Created by David Gray who also calls Waipu home after living in Bream Bay for the last 8 years. Dave identified an audience that wasn’t being served effectively. He wanted to create a radio station “That everyone could agree on”.

Having spent over 27 years in the industry in various roles (including co- founder of George FM, Announcer and management positions) Dave wanted to create a brand that offered local businesses an opportunity to reach local residents in what is the fastest growing region, Lower Northland. The added benefit is that the region swells with a further 25000+ visitors over summer . Smooth 105.6 is your only local radio station that delivers local news bulletins and content that is relevant to the local population of Lower Northland.... Because we live here too.
